BUKC BRITISH UNIVERSITIES KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP

Awesome prizes for Driver Champ winners

Published March 20, 2012 21:21

The winning drivers in each of the classes of the forthcoming Drivers Champ to not only be guests of Red Bull at Silverstone but also to qualify direct to the final of the Red Bull Kart Fight.

What is Kart Fight I here you ask? Well if you were asleep last year, Kart Fight is Red Bull's plan to find the best amateur karters in the world. They  are soon to be launching the UK Kart Fight which will be taking place all over the country over the summer months. And as Red Bull are such an awesome company, they are inviting the winning drivers from each of the Lightweight and Heavyweight classes directly through to the Grand Fina of the Red Bull UK Kart Fight later in the year.

And if that's not enough, the winning drivers in each of the Driver Champ classes will also be joining the winning team of the BUKC at Silverstone on the Thursday of the British GP to be treated as VIPs courtesy of Red Bull. WHAT A PRIZE!

So, what is the Drivers Championship?

As you are almost certainly aware, the final race day of the BUKC not only hosts the final round of the championship but also sees the ever-so-special BUKC Drivers Champ come to life in what can only be regarded as the bestaway to end the championship. It's no longer about team work, noooooo, it's every driver for themselves. Friendships are ruined, underlying rivalries cemented, alliegancies forgotton. It's all about who is the best driver in the BUKC and proving that you're better than your team mates!

If you haven't done the BUKC Drivers Championship before, it is not to be missed. It will be the best and closest fought racing you'll ever do in the BUKC. I have taken part every year since we introduced the Drivers Championship in 2008 and it's the event I look forward to most every year. Sadly, I can't be racing this time as JV will be sunning himself on a beach in Sri Lanka and I have to step into his shoes.

And this DC will be the best ever. At Buckmore Park. OMG! With the Red Bull arch!!! OMG! And Red Bull Event Vehicle!!! OMG! And with the amazing prizes that Red Bull have kindly donated, the Drivers Champ is not to be missed!

So, when is registration open I here you ask? Well, to give everyone a bit of time to get logged into the BUKC website via Facebook, registration will be open tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm. If you are not yet logged onto the BUKC website via Facebook, then click on the "Sign in via Facebook" link on the BUKC website and register your details prior to Wednesday evening.

To register all you need to do is click on the "Drivers" link in the navigation bar at the top of the website once logged in via Facebook . You'll then be asked to choose your kart number (the kart numbers are offered on a first come first serve basis). Then you'll be asked to pay by credit / debit card via Pay Pal. We will only be accepting online registration and payments. If you can't pay via credit card / debit card, you'll need to get someone else to do the payment for you.

The format is 2 x 10 min heats, grids randomised such that every driver has the same average grid position, followed by a 10min A or B final. Points awarded for each heat determine where you'll qualify in either the B or A final. The top 4 drivers from the B final will be put through to the back of the A final.

There are only 64 places in the Lightweights and 64 places in the Heavyweight and Superheavyweight classes which run together. Places are offered on a first come first serve basis and the earlier you register, the more likely you'll be able to pick your favourite kart number! Which of course, as we all know, is worth at least a second a lap.

If registration is anything like last year, the Drivers Championship will sell out in less than 24hrs. So to avoid being disappointed I suggest you make sure you login tomorrow evening at 6pm and get ready to register for the best event in the BUKC.
