Safety & Risk
Motorsport can be dangerous
Arrive-and-drive karting is well established as a safe and exhilerating form of sport.
However, nearly all sports carry risks, and karting is no different.
Compare it to other forms of sport available such as rugby, skiing, snowboarding, sailing etc then we firmly believe that karting is actually safer than these more mainstream sports that are readily available within universities.
Notable accidents are typically very rare such is the standard of professionalism in the karting industry as a whole and in 3T Racing and Club100.
A paramedic team is always present at all BUKC events should injuries occur.
All circuits hosting the British Universities Karting Championship are professional insitutions with regular track inspections, staff training, and very good safety records. They are all approved for racing by the sports governing body – the Motor Sports Association (MSA)
All suits, helmets and gloves are provided by the at every event and safety briefings are conducted before every practise and race session as well to ensure that drivers adhere to the rules and regulations.
Please note that karting can be dangerous, accidents can not be ruled out despite all safety precautions, and competitors take part in the championship at their own risk.
